What I Have learned About Donald Trump

Like most of the people in this nation I too have watched the present administration that has had such an impact on not just the U.S. residents, but around the world.

Sometimes what I saw bordered on horrific; almost like watching a train wreck without having the ability to know how to stop it.

I was not alone.

Every person who has served in the capacity of the President of the United States has impacted the world in one way or another, but never on the level that we are experiencing now.

As a journalist I have watched many interviews with Mr. Trump and his staffers. I have watched political analysts that either supported his efforts or criticize his lack of leadership and inability to make the correct decisions.

I have attended rallies and watched people get mentally as well as emotionally twisted into what is similar into watching a shark feeding frenzy.

During this time, many people in the media as well as armchair psychiatrists on social media have stated that he was mentally deranged or had several (if not all) borderline personality disorders.

Whether that is true or not, such diagnosis should be left to those who are trained to determine that and only through a series of therapeutic sessions with Trump.

Making these statements does not lend itself to understanding him nor does it help the state that this nation currently finds itself in.

Experiencing Mr. Trump however can be a real eye opener as long as you’re willing to watch and/or listen with an open mind.

I believe I have learned some things about Mr. Trump just by watching what he does and listening to him as well. I have limited it to 10.

1.     He is a good businessman.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Read the above line again. I said good, not successful. Trump lacks the acumen to be a successful businessman.

As a good businessman he knows where all the pieces of the puzzle are and knows the strategy to get it done but lacks the skill set needed to implement his plan.

A successful businessman knows how to put the pieces in place efficiently.

They have to possess the ability to get others (employees) to put everything in place under their guidance which means that a leader must have good communication and social skills in order to be a successful businessmen.

This what is needed to not only get people to admire you, but those who don’t to put their trust in you.

Another skill that is required is being able to determine who your customer base is and then appeal to their needs. Donald Trump did just that.

He appealed to the ones who were angry, believed in conspiracies, were fanatically devout, racist, and overall felt abandoned by the people who run this country.

Once he realized what his customer base was, he started to talk to them through speeches, Twitter and any other way he could think of. They showed up in all their white power goodness feeling impowered because they suddenly had someone they could believe in as well as follow.

This, and the opposition’s failure to pull in the people who voted for Bernie Sanders, is how he got elected.

2.     Paranoia

It’s hard to figure out what made Mr. Trump paranoid. It could have been the way he was brought up, an incident in his teen years or when he became tabloid fodder after getting busted with having Marla Maples as his mistress while still married to his wife, Ivana.

Whatever the reason, he became convinced that anyone outside of his circle of family sought to harm him; that everyone was out to get him.

Trump also doesn’t like to be taped, recorded, or notes kept during his meetings. And anyone who spends time with him must sign a non-disclosure agreement.

This is also probably part of the reason why he continues to refuse releasing his tax returns.

He will eat his meal, which usually consists of sandwiches from McDonalds, in a locked room because he believes people are trying to poison him.

What is important here is to understand the root causes of paranoia which is fear and anxiety.

When a person is paranoid, or perceived to be paranoid, they often have thoughts or beliefs that are intense; they often have irrational thoughts or delusions even when there is no evidence as to what they perceive to be true.

Trump, especially since he’s been in the White House, has shown the classic signs of paranoia such as irritational beliefs, a hypervigilant sense of anger and betrayal.

3.     Social Media

Social Media seems today to be the best, either free or relatively cheap, way for people to promote themselves.

It’s hard to find a celebrity or politician who isn’t on Twitter, Instagram or other outlets. It is often considered to be the most effective way to put your message or brand out there.

Plus it’s free and mostly  without restraint.

Let’s face it – if you are a public figure, people will find you, friend you, and pass along whatever craziness you see fit to post.

You may have some people who post their own messages on social media (Ice T, Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Tiegen), some who have others post, but post themselves (50 Cent, D.L. Hughley, Tom Hanks) as well.

Then you have Donald Trump who has staff to post for him, but is determined to do his own posts. The problem is everyone knows which posts are Trump’s and the ones that are from his staff.

So what is up with Trump’s obsession with social media and when will it stop?

Probably not because Trump believes that his rants on Twitter are somehow helping his agenda.

Well, maybe.

It certainly helps when the Twitter Trolls respond to Trump’s tweets and then the media picks them up and even more people read them. It’s also important to understand that not all of the trolls are anti-Trump. Many of them are also his supporters.

So, if you look at it from this angle, the tweet was successful and brought more attention to Trump.

As someone who attempted and/or believes that they are a celebrity, Trump has bought into the whole belief that any press is good press.

Trump has also been able to dominate the news and keep the media’s focus on him intense.

Lately most presidents have used trending media outlets to heighten their popularity: Clinton had the MTV generation and Obama used podcasting, Facebook and Twitter. He also greatly tapped into the Oprah Winfrey Generation.

So despite what people may think, the use or monopolizing of social media was not created by Donald Trump.

The ability to get the attention that he has, was most likely caused by posting something random; something that was inadvertently tweeted causing the trolls sleeper cells to wake up.

It was most likely one of his interns that realized what a public relations gold mine it was to tweet random and crazy messages. One of the interns probably put the idea out there because Trump isn’t really all that astute.

Still, because Trump likes to be in control, he uses social media to divert America’s attention and in this day and age that’s not hard to do.

Remember the wall, children from the border, the sexual assaults, his tax returns……the list goes on.

Whenever something is going very wrong in this country, there will suddenly be a new issue and a vile tweet to go along with it.

4.     Gaslighting

Although it’s important to leave the official diagnosis to professionals, the term gaslighting can be used to describe some of Trump’s behaviors as they are grouped together; almost like they are working as a team.

The term gaslighting has been around for years and was even a movie, but has picked up a resurgence lately through social media websites as people struggle to understand the behaviors of those in their lives.

Gaslighting is a method used by people to manipulate or control others. Some of the techniques they use to confuse or control their target are to deny something they said even if you have proof, such as a video tape in which they stated exactly what they are now denying.

Making claims that they are being persecuted by those who may be part of the other persons’ support system is a frequent method used by gaslighters in order to elicit sympathy from their victims.

Although many people believe that the gaslighting technique is used in interpersonal relationships, it’s also used to control and change the narrative in areas of business as well as politics.

Donald Trump routinely uses the gaslighting techniques on his followers in an effort to get them emotionally charged into an us versus them mentality.

His use of fake news is a part of his gaslighting technique.

5.     He’s acutely ill-concealed

People with public personas have to be effective when it comes to communicating with the masses and nobody does this better than politicians because even when they lie, you can still see what the truth is.

Even when their lies are more complicated to understand, understanding what the truth is usually is not.

Donald Trump’s lies are even easier to figure out because they’re just bad. He doesn’t even try to make his lies more complicated to figure out.

When he speaks in his rallies, the words he uses to describe people, races, cultures, sexual identities or religions are acutely ill-concealed; his disdain for them is really easy to recognize.

You can see the revulsion dripping out of his mouth.

This is intentional. It’s like some kind of secret code he’s sending to the antennas of his followers that will insight them like a pack of wild animals.

6.     He’s a part of the master-race

To be honest, Trump is truly a product of his upbringing.

He was born and raised in a family that, due in part to the German lineage, believed that theirs was a master race; that they are the superior race.

Although Trump has never openly admitted that he is a card-carrying member of any number of organizations who still buy into the whole master-race dogma, his attitude towards people of different races, socio-economic classes or educational backgrounds as well as applying some of Adolf Hitler’s tactics has clearly demonstrated that he is.

His attacks on people who don’t meet his owned warped sense of physical beauty while ignoring his own lack of physical perfection (known these days as body shaming), attacks on non-white immigrants, constant shame-based references to those whom he considers unacceptable (poor people, single mothers, the disabled, the mentally ill, and minorities) are right out of the master-race handbook.

7.     K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid)

The acronym, K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, stupid) was created by the U.S. Navy in 1960 and has since continued to be used by different military branches as well as the prepper movement.

It is also the best way to describe the way Donald Trump has chosen to address the public regardless as to whether or not if they are followers, the media or those he deems to be his enemies.

His hero, Adolf Hitler, believed that the people of Germany, and any others he wanted to reach, were not that smart. He felt that these people also had difficulty remembering anything that was told to them in great detail.

To that extent, he used a lot of slogans.

Trump being who he is, followed Hitler and can often be heard yelling his own slogans “Make America Great Again,” “Grab her by the pussy,” “Lock her up” and “Build the wall.”

What Hitler was able to do and what Trump can’t do is to talk down to people without coming across as stupid himself.

Trump can’t help but come across as a petulant 4 grader with the spelling ability to go with it.

He thinks his tweets are getting his message out there and to have an open pipeline of communication among the people, but all it has done has created a sharper division among U.S. residents and perhaps that’s what his primary objective is; for his Twitter rants to create a divisive environment throughout social media.

Donald Trump may have believed that he could emulate Hitler and his style that would make him an effective, if not diabolical, leader of Germany. That is apparently not the case.

What he failed to understand, what he always fails to take into account, is that there are certain realities that cannot be changed or altered.

Reality #1: This isn’t Germany circa 1930s. This is the United States of America and the world is a lot more sophisticated now than it was back then.

Reality #2: With the internet and social media, it is virtually impossible to pull the same stunts that worked for Hitler.

Reality #3: Even with people Trump deems to be stupid or ‘unsophisticated’, they are still smarter than people were back in the 1930s.

Reality #4: A lot of people don’t like Donald Trump and many of those didn’t like him before he decided to run for office.

Reality #5: When he attempts to talk down to people, he comes off sounding like the only stupid person in the crowd whether it’s through misspellings or using made up words and his constant simplification of his thoughts, to quote Donald Trump ‘…is very, very bad and it’s very, very sad.’

8.     Globalizer or populist?

When looking at whether Trump is a globalizer or a populist, it’s important to understand what each word actually means.

A globalizer is someone who, through the process of deregulation and taxes such as tariffs, helps develop, encourages the development of and, eventually, takes advantage of the unfettered free market that was intended to help poor countries to develop and grow economically.

A populist, on the other hand, is usually a politician who convinces people – typically registered voters- into believing that certain people or groups -such as other politicians or political parties-don’t have their best interests at heart and are ignoring their needs.

As a private businessman, Trump was certainly a globalizer and as a president he has continued to attempt to be one by disrupting trade talks or conferences with his childish antics.

He is more so, as a president, a populist who has managed to persuade his followers that their needs-and even more so their rights- are being ignored.

Although he isn’t altogether wrong, it is his execution of this message that has him churning up hate, racism, sexism and homophobia among certain groups of people who have felt they were being sidelined because of these values.

9.     He’s an immoderate

Despite surrounding himself with people who may or may not have the necessary requirements to do their jobs, it is hopeful that they had a couple of ounces of common sense.

Over the last two years, many of his staffers (and soon to be former staffers) had to remove documents off his desk so he wouldn’t sign them; had to try to brief him on issues that he didn’t want to learn about; tried to explain to him the importance of certain issues that he didn’t care about anything beyond what he believed; Trump’s refusal to stop tweeting rants that compromised the integrity of the office of the presidency; making up facts as he went along; verbal attacks on other world leaders, and had to try to explain to him why an idea he had wasn’t feasible because it was really illegal.

So why was a cabinet job with Donald Trump 200% more difficult than with other sitting presidents?

Donald Trump is an immoderate; he is excessively self-indulgent, reckless and dangerously unrestrained.

When you’re an immoderate and unwilling to compromise or to change your ways in order to better serve the people of this nation the only purpose it serves is to wreak havoc on a nation and its allies.

10.  He speaks with a forked tongue

Of course he lies. Everyone knows he lies. The lies he tells are about as convincing as a knock off Persian rug.

I know convicted criminals who are much better liars and the thing that probably doesn’t surprise people is that he doesn’t care if he’s a bad liar.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the duplicitous ways he sends conflicting messages.

1.     In 2000 and again in 2013 he supported violating the 2 Amendment, but in 2015 and in 2016 while running for president, after receiving campaign contributions from the NRA, he advocated for the 2 Amendment. It’s not that he’s actually for or against it, he’ll say whatever he has to in order to garnish attention or to profit from what people value.

2.     Fake news. He accuses everyone he can of reporting fake news when he himself says things which aren’t true. What is really the basis of fake news? It’s propaganda which is the foundation of everything that comes out of his mouth.

3.     As his attacks against Barack Obama continues on two years after he left office, his calls for Hillary Clinton to go to jail for her emails on a non-secured server as he continues to use a cell phone that is unsecured, his Elmer Fudd goes a wabbit hunting attack on the New York Times for printing an anonymous opinion-editorial that criticized his administration while acting as if the same laws that he accuses others of violating doesn’t apply to him or his family.

4.     The Resistance is a movement that refuses to comply with what is called Trumpism; the bigotry, intolerance and racism that is the Trump organization,

Trump claims that he is The Resistance, but not that resistance. What he’s resisting is anyone’s guess. Perhaps he’s resisting getting indicted. Maybe resisting against telling the truth. He may just be resisting to come out of that locked room and eat with everyone else.

5.     He promised he was going to drain the swamp; that he was going to make the government honest again not that it was ever honest to begin with, but okay let’s go with that. There has been nothing honest about Donald Trump or the GOP so basically they are the swamp.

Alternative Facts Make Way for Alternative Reality in the Trump Administration

On Saturday, March 4, 2017 Donald Trump accused former-President Barack Obama of wire tapping his phones prior to the November elections; that Trump accused Obama of committing an actual crime that may be punishable by a stint in prison.

Typical of Trump, he offered no evidence and when confronted by lawmakers as well as the public, he remained silent. Naturally Obama denied doing anything.

It didn’t take long for members of the press to accuse Trump of creating a diversion that would take the focus off of allegations that have come to light in which members of Trump’s staff had met with Russian officials as well as the allegations that Russia hacked into the Democratic Party in order to ensure Trump would win the election.

If that was Trump’s plan, he obviously doesn’t understand that the press-especially those who are unhappy with Trump’s actions against them-aren’t that easily derailed or fooled.

The allegations against Obama were both sensationalist and ludicrous. The story surely made headlines, but not for long.

Four days after Trump tweeted his assertion, the media was right back on the Russia hacking story so if it was his plan to muddy the waters a bit, it didn’t work.

On March 8 an article appeared online claiming that Roger Stone, a political consultant for Trump, was in contact with the same group of Russian hackers who have been accused of getting into DNC’s computers as well as Hilary Clinton’s emails in an effort to help Trump win the election.

Around the time of the Obama accusation, social media claimed that this was all a diversion to keep the American public in the dark about certain bills that were introduced during not only the Obama accusation, but the Russian hacking claim as well.

Using the media to create a questionable news story in order to mask another more damaging one isn’t something new.

Politicians as well as big businesses and even the Hollywood publicity machine have been using this sleight of hand since the invention of the printing press.

So regardless to what Trump may believe, he did not invent the tactic.

CEOs, politicians and heads of movie/television studios have commonly hired those who were not only adept at spin control, but had the expertise in creating a divisive environment.

Someone once said, “No one can appreciate crazy like those who give out the meds.”

These people that work to create chaos and get people talking or taking action through the media to spread the necessary toxicity understand the power of such environments; that they are in a sense giving out the meds.

It’s just not necessarily the type of meds that will create calmness, provide answers and give people a few moments of clarity.

After the appropriate time in the short, brief life of the news media, everyone’s attention goes back to normal, or in these days, abnormal issues at hand.

Like the Herpes Simplex Virus, the outrageous claims and accusations seem to go away, but they just become dormant and they will eventually flare up whenever these Drs. of Chaos bring them out of dormancy.

Part of their expertise is making it almost impossible to ascertain where the stories started which is the beauty of Facebook. You don’t have to prove it, you just have to post it.

No matter how crazy something is, or if the status update is accompanied by a link to a news website that no one has ever heard from before, if the right person or persons post it, the story will eventually gain enough traction that will lend some truth to it.

Lately, such a status update has appeared throughout the social media giant’s website. A lot of times.
Naturally there was no link provided, just an urge to copy and paste-in other words to spread the news.

The fact that it wasn’t really news wasn’t the point. It, according to the urgency of the post, was an outrage and more “evidence” of Donald Trump’s villainous rein.

The post claimed that both the Russian hack and the wiretapping allegation was a smokescreen to prevent the American people from finding out that certain bills had been introduced behind their backs.

The bills were even listed:

  • HR 861 Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency
  • HR 610 Vouchers for Public Education
  • HR 899 Terminate the Department of Education
  • HJR 69 Repeal Rule Protecting Wildlife
  • HR 370 Repeal Affordable Care Act
  • HR 354 Defund Planned Parenthood
  • HR 785 National Right to Work (this one ends unions)
  • HR 83 Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Bill
  • HR 147 Criminalizing Abortion (“Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act”)
  • HR 808 Sanctions against Iran

Really? Not really, but unless you are the type of person who likes to find out the truth on your own or are a news junkie you would have thought it was true. If it came from someone you trusted, then you were more inclined to accept the post as being true.

The truth is that all of the ideas were stated by Donald Trump (or tweeted about them) long before they became bills.

Yes, he does talk a lot and it’s hard to continue to listen to his rants, but they were mentioned in one form or another.

So here’s some actual truth:

• HR 861 (Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency) was introduced by Representative Matt Gaetz (Florida Republican) on February 3, 2017;

• HR 610 (Vouchers for Public Education) was introduced by Representative Steve King (Iowa Republican) on January 23, 2017;

• HR 899 (Terminate the Department of Education) was introduced by Representative Thomas Massie (Kentucky Republican) on February 7, 2017;

• HJR 69 (Repeal Rule Protecting Wildlife) was a constitutional amendment for the state of Virginia that was introduced by the Governor of Virginia, Democrat Terry McAuliffe, on January 11, 2017.

• HR 370 (Repeal Affordable Care Act) was introduced by Representative Bill Flores (Texas Republican) on January 9, 2017, but who didn’t see this one coming since Trump won the election in November?

• HR 354 (Defund Planned Parenthood) was introduced by Representative Diane Black (Tennessee Republican) on January 6, 2017 and was also a hot topic during the presidential campaign.

• HR 785 (National Right to Work) was introduced by Representative Steve King (Iowa Republican) on February 1, 2017.

• HR 83 (Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Bill) was introduced by Representative Lou Barletta (Pennsylvania Republican) on January 3, 2017 and has made several headlines in the news since the bill was introduced in January.

• HR 147 (Criminalizing Abortion /Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act) was introduced by Representative Trent Franks (Arizona Republican) on January 3, 2017.

• HR 808 (Sanctions against Iran) was introduced by Representative Peter J. Roskam (Illinois Republican) on February 1, 2017.

The Russian hacking story began to float around after the election in November, but gained more traction through an investigation conducted by the U.S. intelligence departments which included the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as well as the Senate Armed Services Committee and was publicly acknowledged as fact on January 6, 2017.

It has remained in the news since that time.

All of the claims about these bills are also null and void because all of them were introduced one-two months prior to Trump’s wire tapping claim so there is no smokescreen or diversion to any of them.

This is a crucial time for America as alt facts and fake news often get mixed in with actual news and actual facts.

It is understandable that prior to Trump’s attack on the press that many people started to have ambivalent feelings towards them.

That shouldn’t stop people from finding out what the real truth is and doing that is actually pretty easy.

If you really want to know what shady shit the elected officials are up to, you can just pay a visit to www.congress.gov   If you scroll towards the bottom the website has both the House and the Senate members listed. To find out what they’re up to, you can click on their names.

This is how you stay informed. This is how you resist or support your elected officials.

If you want to know what Donald Trump is up to, you can pay a visit to the White House’s website at www.whitehouse.gov/ and get a clearer idea of what’s going on.

Getting your information from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, MySpace or left-leaning/right-leaning websites is just bad.

Everyone has the right to be heard and to voice their opinions.

Everybody has the right to demonstrate, resist, protest or support whatever it is that they believe in or who they believe in.

In order to evoke change and it open up people’s hearts as well as minds, this should be done using the truth; using actual facts that are undisputable.

Relying on partial truths, embellished truths, alt facts and downright lies won’t change anything. It will only serve to inflict more injustice and serve to destroy whatever changes you hope to make.

The United Sates of Donald Trump

In the United States, political campaigns are about as clean and civil as a mud fight.
The political campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as well as the two controlling political parties –the Democrats and the Republicans-sunk to new lows which in this country that’s really saying a lot.
It was no longer a mud fight, but more like an artillery attack.

Instead of putting the focus on policies and how the potential candidate would benefit the country, it became more about a candidates’ family, the infidelity of a spouse, attacking the appearance of women, referring to a candidate as a sexist and a racist, and even the penis size when compared to the size of their hands.
In the end, as we all know, Donald Trump won the battle and on January 20, 2017 he was sworn in as the 45 President of the United States. It has yet to be determined if he will actually win the war.
A lot of people wondered, and are still wondering, how something like this could have happened.
The answer is relatively easy actually.
Donald Trump is a businessman and any person in business knows that’s important to know your target audience. The second thing is to know your product and what is the best way of marketing that product.
Like it or not, Trump knew and excelled at both of these where career criminals politicians couldn’t have cared less because they were confident that all the sheeples (aka American voters) would do what they were told to do or manipulated into doing it as they had in the past.

Trump essentially knew that he had two different types of audience.
The first one was pretty easy to spot because they had been around for awhile and most people have had personal interactions with this particular group at one time or another in their life.
This group is defined and easily spotted due to their outspoken convictions about racism and sexism. They wear these beliefs like some kind of badge of honor.

Most of its members were raised in a culture of hate while a select few decided, at some point in their lives, that everything that has happened to them that was bad was because of women and minorities.
As individuals, they seem to have the belief that women and minorities are beneath them; that they are the superior race.
The second group that Trump targeted seemed to surprise people especially elected officials because this particular pocket of society were the ones that politicians disregarded; the working middle class.

Over the years this group saw their taxes (income, property and sales) increase as their home values either went down or the homes themselves went into foreclosure, their incomes either shrink or become nonexistent where they found themselves working two and three jobs just to barely keep food on the table, the public education system where they were forced to send their kids to was nonfunctioning as well as violent, and finally realizing that they had no voice in the government which was loyally supported by their tax dollars and blind devotion for years.
This blind devotion made them believe that if they rallied against one of the two major political parties in order to get what was needed, that they would be rewarded after election time.
As the United States became more and more a Banana Republic, thanks in part to both parties –Republicans as well as corporate Democrats- the members of this isolated group became submerged in feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness which fueled deep anger and hostility that silently raged within them.
A Banana Republic is a country in which corporate interests take precedence over the interests of the individuals.
It is due to these interests that create an ever-growing income imbalance between the rich and the poor while practically eradicating the middle class.
Taxes are constantly raised to besiege the middle class, who can’t even be considered as a class of people anymore, while taxes for the rich are less due to loop holes in the tax laws that only benefit taxpayers in upper income brackets.
Suddenly, for these downtrodden taxpayers, it seemed like the heavens opened up and lowered them a lifeline. That lifeline’s name was Donald Trump.
And like a true used car salesman, he told them exactly what they wanted to hear convincing them that he truly connected to their plight. They drank it up like an alcoholic who had just fell off the wagon.
Donald Trump, with all his megalomaniacal narcissistic rants, was on to something and whatever that something was, it would get him to the White House. That, in his mind, he would not be President but he would be God Emperor.
In his campaign speeches he started to talk about NAFTA.
NAFTA, North American Free Trade Agreement, was introduced and signed into law by then- President George H. W. Bush in 1994. The agreement was signed by Bush, Canada’s Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexico’s President Carlos Salinas.
The agreement was made to create a trade bloc between the three countries which entitled certain tariff barriers to be eliminated or just reduced.
A tariff is a tax on imported or exported goods.
It wasn’t the actual agreement that was the problem, but the loopholes that were contained within that agreement.
It certainly didn’t take companies long to discover these loopholes. It was almost as if someone in office told the CEO’s where to find them, but that would be paranoid to think something like that, right?
The nation’s automakers were one of the first companies to take advantage of NAFTA.
Companies that produced electronics parts and computers soon followed as did companies that specialized in food production such as Kraft who was bought out by Mondelez International in 2012.
In 2014, representatives from Mondelez announced that they were closing several Kraft/Nabisco production plants and would be moving these operations over to other plants on the East Coast.
On the day they closed the historical plant in Philadelphia, the company announced that all productions would be moving to a factory they just built in Monterey, Mexico for a paltry $600 million.
At the Philadelphia plant as well as other plants in Illinois, California and Maryland people protested and not one politician stood up to fight for these jobs. Not one.
Now the company ships in their ingredients from the United States, makes the product in Mexico and then ships the product back all without paying any tariffs.
While Kraft was still in this country, they made over $1 billion per year in sales. Now that they have employees who make $3 an hour and get no benefits, their profits have undoubtedly increased.
Since NAFTA was put into law, over 682,000 jobs were lost as companies took advantage of the agreement.

Many of the jobs were in small rural towns where the factory or production plant employed almost everyone in that town. The closing of the plants devastated these towns. It devastated families whose only income came from these plants.
This is what Donald Trump doesn’t like, but too often he considers doing the right thing for all the wrong reasons. This is what everyone should be upset about as well besides those who lost their livelihood due to NAFTA.

Despite NAFTA bringing more jobs and money into Mexico, the country or its citizens aren't doing any better as it's still being run by cartels and the lousy hourly wage that these American companies are paying them hasn't slowed down the numbers of people illegally coming across the border nor has it improved their quality of life.
Since his inauguration, Trump has become like a mad scientist, signing one proclamation or bill after another.
The reality as to whether or not he will succeed at any of these is uncertain and is even less likely.
Apparently, politicians are a stickler for details and they don’t necessarily embrace change.
They also don’t like chaotic disorder which is how Donald Trump operates.
The things he wants to do (NAFTA, voter fraud, health care, immigration bans, CIA black sites, Mexico’s wall) aren’t going to happen just because he wants them to.
Trump may be starting to realize (probably not) that running a business where you make all the decisions and running the country where you have to include others in that decision making process are two vastly different things.
Perhaps if he had considered how difficult people in Washington can be and how long they hold grudges while he was campaigning things might go easier for him, but that’s not his way.
Trump likes to make enemies rather than friends.
That’s not to say that some of his orders won’t make it through, but not in the rapid amount of time he believes they should and most likely not exactly how he wants them to be. Trump has to be willing to thoroughly learn about all the complicated ins and outs of every policy before he can decide how to proceed. Once again, not one of his strong suits.
He may also not be as thoroughly invested in all of these orders as he’s making it seem. It’s a good bet that he’s trying to pacify those who voted for him and if he fails, he has someone to blame; to place himself in the role of victim. Something Donald Trump is very good at.
Every day is a new bill to sign or a new outrageously crazy thought that’s aimed at dehumanizing this country.
Since taking office, employees from state agencies are finding that their jobs are not so simple.
At the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), employees have discovered that, per the new administration, the entire agency is under lockdown with reports, grants, permits, findings, studies, and contracts being frozen.

They are also unable to serve the public due to the shutdown of the website and inability to use social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. The last tweets that were made were sent out one day prior to Trump being sworn in.
These staffers are being told that all this is being done in order to update things to the new administration’s policies.
Trump seems determined to control every aspect of American society because perhaps he believes that is what required in order to make America great again; to bring this country back to the way it was in the 40s and 50s; an era where politicians were revered, consequences by the government were feared and where only Caucasian men had rights. Somewhere in Trump’s bat-shit-crazy man cave is a huge picture of J. Edgar Hoover made out of velvet.
Currently, Mr. Trump appears to be freewheeling out of control. He has mocked every protester or anyone who he believes is out to get him who is most likely everyone.
Shortly after being sworn in, he decided to make the area around the White House a police state by having journalists arrested for reporting the truth. Trump mistakenly believes that he can run the country like that.
Trump abhors journalists because there are very few of them who will report only what he wants them to. If he could, he would obliterate the fourth estate and any rights that are afforded to them by the constitution.
On Thursday, January 26, 2016 he made a trip to Philadelphia and was greeted by hundreds of thousands of protesters as well as several members of the fourth estate.

As Trump’s motorcade made it down the streets of Philadelphia towards his destination (City Hall) he must have loved to see all the people lining the streets if it weren’t for many of them sticking their middle fingers up at him while even more of them held up protest signs.

There really isn’t any reasoning behind why Trump would choose to have a GOP (Grand Old Party aka the Republicans) conference in this city. The same city he avoided like the plague when he was campaigning.
Philly is a Democratic city of major proportions. The mayor is one. Out of 17 city council members only three are Republicans.
In Pennsylvania there are over 4 million Democrats and over 776,000 of them live in a city with a population of 1.5 million people.
On the bright side, Trump couldn’t possibly be unhappy that people came out to greet him. As he reached City Hall, thousands of demonstrators swelled around the building.
You couldn’t throw a wet corn flake without hitting a cop. They were everywhere.

To make Trump feel more special, people followed his motorcade from City Hall to his next destination, the Loews Hotel, where his conference was being held just as the walkers followed Rick Grimes and his group in the season 5 episode of The Walking Dead titled, Them.

Donald Trump, probably for the first time since he announced his bid, had no control over his environment. Being who he is, Trump did what he normally does: he spouted lies and falsified facts about Philadelphia.
What he didn’t do is say it to the Democratic politicians who met him in City Hall or to the protesters outside.
It is hard to expect people to respect you if you’re not honest with them.
Despite his lie that crime is increasing in the city, not one protester was arrested and there were no acts of vandalism or theft. The demonstration was a peaceful one and people let their signs do the talking for them.
Hopefully, every city Trump travels to will he be greeted in the same way. Perhaps that may have an effect.
The people in this city wisely did not call it a protest, but a resistance. Resisting something makes a bigger statement as to your objectives than protesting does.
The new president, whether people agree with it or not, is a very good representation as to what this country has become; bitter, angry and compassionless.
So how did this country, which some people once believed was the greatest country in the world, fall so deep down the rabbit hole of hell?

Simply put, Americans took their eye off the ball by trusting that who they voted into office would do what’s best for the country and then leaving alone to do it without keeping their eye on them.
Elected politicians are like children. You can’t leave them up to their own devices.
Once a politician gets into office, they are supposed to work for the citizens of this country. They do not work for the corporations, for their wealthy friends or for themselves.
Even if a politician doesn’t do their job, they still seem to get reelected. Many states also do not have any term limits for their senators, council members, congress people, sheriffs, or commissioners.
Term limits for council members in Philadelphia do not exist even though people want them to. City Councilman Brian O’Neill has been in office for 37 years, Jannie Blackwell for 26 years and current Council President Darrell Clarke for 18.
Cleveland’s Councilman Mike Polensek has been keeping his seat warm for 39 years.
Voters need to be able to decide on term limits, but most elected officials make that decision for them.
Just remember that when you decide not to be proactive towards the very people who are defining your life- you are voting to lose your job, you are voting to have your children barely educated in an environment of violence, you are voting to have your house foreclosed upon and you are voting away your rights.
You are also deciding that the only parties who should be in the White House are Democrats or Republicans.
Another way to change the climate of this country is to become aware of what’s going on in your own backyard. Every city and state has a website with detailed information about what they’re up to (more or less) as does the White House.
People need to stay on their toes about bills that are being discussed and being passed. You need to think about how that’s going to impact you.

Keep a running tally on how a politician votes and remember them at election time.
Stop letting the elected officials goad you into an us versus them mentality. The us versus them that they are referring to are opposite political parties or the political parties and their rich constituents and everyone else.
America shouldn’t be about the politicians or their corporate terrorist friends. It should be about the people; all the people who work and contribute to this country in whatever way they can.
These politicians enjoy watching Americans emotionally, verbally and even physically pummel one another over circumstances that the elected as well as the elite created because that means no one’s watching them.
When Bernie Sanders was running he spoke about a political revolution and that certainly needs to take place.
A political revolution is when the government is replaced or changed.
While protests/resistances are a good start they are only effective for so long.
The American people have to be willing to start have community meetings with each other and blacklist any politician who wants to take part in it unless they’re willing to be a member of the general audience who’s willing to participate as a citizen and not a politician.
These conversations need to be held without people attacking each other and where plans can actually be formulated on how to bring this country back to the people who keep it going.
It’s important for Americans to get involved and take this country back from the people who have stolen it; the politicians and the corporate lobbyists.
Don’t let the elected officials, the so-called pundits on news stations like FOX or CNN, or even the yellow journalists convince you what is best for you or scare you into thinking things are one way or another.
Don’t let these same people convince you that you don’t matter or that what you want isn’t in the best interest of this country.
Americans are better than all of this; they are better than what Washington and now the world is showing them that they are. They have to be.
